Why am I doing this? I thought I was gonna work on my final project :V where did this come from? Oh gosh...

Okay, I was supposed to work on a monster design based on spotted hyenas, but after drawing all the "anatomy studies" I felt that it would be a shame not to share my notes to the rest of you guys.

It surprised me how extremely rare it is to find a decent guide in Hyena Anatomy, still I actually often sees many hyena-fursonas on dA. So I thought, what the heck, they deserve a little guide.

I might do more of these "mini-guides", but they will probably only focus on animals with a more unique anatomy. Or animals that has WAY to few tutorials about. And I wont promise a flood of new tutorials, these are only reference guides.

AND YES I will probably submit a tutorial about dinosaurs... ;)

This is so good! Now instead of explaining all this information to people, I can just show them this!

I love your tutorials! They are incredibly helpful, very clear information. I have noticed a distinct lack of deer tutorials....

Hi!

I am a high school art teacher and I am taking some art students to the La Brea Tarpits this Friday. I am looking for some good examples on how artists use their understanding of animal anatomy and I came across you wonderful page here! With your permission, I would like to use part of your Spotted Hyena Anatomy guide, (the bottom section) as a handout for students, (with a copyright crediting your work next to your images). All of these students are advanced art students taking college level art classes. I could collect the copies at the end of the field trip if you like. There will be about 40 students going.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter! :)

Lovely guide :O
And yeah, it is amazing just how many people think they're related to the canines and don't get that they have nothing to do with the Wolf lineage. The untrained eye wouldn't think that the Hyena evolved from a kind of civet like creature.
