UPDATE: If you wanna know more about the 8-head ratio on shorter people just click on this link:

YES I USE ANDREW LOOMIS BOOKS AS REFERENCE.
You guys should download his stuff, they are FREE ---> [link] [link] [link] <----- CLICK AND DOWNLOAD YOU SMARTHEADS.

His style is a bit old fashioned, but there's a reason why his methods still work out.

Oh and sorry if I didn't cover details like shoulders flexibility and that the body is 7 - 7,5 head units tall and not 8. READ THE GODDAMN TEXT BEFORE YOU POINT IT OUT. Srsly. It's not like I don't know that.
It's pretty hard to fill the tutorial with everything when the size limit is 18000 px, it may sound big but for a tutorial like this, it is not that much space.

Srsly. If you don't read the text in the tutorial, you'll miss stuff.

This is pretty hype. One question though, why the diagonals on the one point perspective bit?
Reply
:iconenemom:
Enemom Featured By Owner Nov 29, 2014  Hobbyist Writer
Because a^2 + b^2=c^2. Aka the artist is using diagonals on the point perspective to make sure the boxes containing each of the "8 heads" is at an appropriate length in between each other. Ever used the Pythagorean Theorum on a triangle?

Anyways i love your tutorials and I am using them to help me draw figures better

With that first point perspective bit, can you advise how you decided what angle to draw the red lines at.  Please? :)

i don't know if this helps, but all of the red diagonal lines are parallel to each other.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?????

This is a great tutorial. It's easy to understand (although I found a typo or two). I'm already familiar with the eight heads method, but the things that I gained insight on were the sitting figure and the range of movement.

I haven't read your other tutorials yet, but I will. The manga to realism ones look especially interesting.

One question though: Why does one need the diagonal lines in the perspective drawings? I wasn't very clear on that.

I know this has a million comments already, but I wanted to add one more to thank you for this tutorial.

Nope.
Can't do it.
I find it easier to just picture it without heads and grids or whatever.
Great guide for those who have more advanced art skills c:

I honestly have a serious problem and its destroying me.

I just cannot draw my own poses without freaking out and resorting to default T pose and even then the anatomy is god awful.

I cant even grasp the simplest of anatomy and its honestly killing my will to live and my will to become an artist I just need to simplify anatomy but at the same time KNOW what to do when faced with something outside of my comfort zone. Whenever I try to draw out my comfort zone my mind goes completely blank and i'm stuck. I like to fool myself into thinking my bodies are abstract and different but no, its just BAD anatomy that i'm sugar coating for my own self worth. I don't want to quit art as its the only thing i've ever really enjoyed. But I feel like I cant do shit in that field if I cant grasp something like anatomy.

Heya!

You could even try taking photographs of yourself in poses you would like to learn, and you use them as reference with a grid :)

I'm busy doing face studies because I can't draw faces for shizzle, and this is how Im practicing to get better.

Remember, it doesnt hurt to use references. Infact use them whenever you can, it isn't cheating and you are guaranteed to learn something!
Have a nice day :D
