Yes I know, it's a bit hypocritical to call this a "not tutorial" and yet place it in that category. But I honestly don't really know any better category (Devious Fun feels a wee bit off-topic you know). Suggestions for a better category are welcomed.
List of youtube channels that also helped and inspired me:
FZDSCHOOL - More or less one of the most known concept art-related resources I know on youtube. It's great to sit and draw and just listen to the talking.
SinixDesign- This guy is also great! He has some design workshops ever now and then where the viewers can send in their stuff for critique! very encouraging and inspiring!
moatddtutorials- This guy is more into drawing than painting, and has a more cartoony style. He has interesting methods when it comes to perspective. And he also challenge himself in some of his videos (the engine block video is a great example of this)
foxOrian- Also known here on dA for his awesome perspective and composition tutorials. He has a youtube channel where he posts some videos that might be interesting as well.
This tutorial gave me the motivational push I needed to stop avoiding backgrounds like the plague, lol. I will practice them properly from now on. >w< Thank you so much! Every picture was absolutely beautiful and it was very inspiring ~
Wow, thanks for sharing that! There are so many things I need to work on in my own art that i dread having to practice, but reading this & seeing all the progress you've made is really encouraging!
the farther away an object is (like a mountain) the lighter and more "faint" are the colors and values due to the athmosphere in the air. This is very visible in for example photos of environments with a lot of fog and mist
